The Bernard L. Schwartz Senior Fellowship in Business and Foreign Policy was established in 2002 with a gift from the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Foundation. Mr. Schwartz is the former chairman and CEO of Loral Space & Communications. The fellowship focuses on the global integration of financial markets and their significance for U.S. economic and foreign policy.
Bernard L. Schwartz is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Loral Space & Communications, from which he retired in March 2006. The company was founded in 1996 when Loral Corporation sold its defense and systems integrations businesses and formed one of the world’s largest satellite manufacturing and services companies. Prior to 1996, Mr. Schwartz served for 24 years as chairman of Loral Corporation. He is currently also chairman of the board of K & F Industries Inc. and Satelites Mexicanos, S.A. Mr. Schwartz has long been a supporter of academic study of issues on economic growth, industrial policy, technology and national security.
