American Treaty on Pacific Settlement (Pact of Bogota)

It was signed at the Conference of American States in Bogota, Colombia on April 30, 1948 and entered into force on May 6, 1949. Among its points, it requires signatories to “settle international controversies by regional procedures before referring them to the Security Council of the United Nations” as well as a “general obligation to settle disputes by pacific means”.
