International Affairs Fellow, 2005-2006
Celina Schocken is currently a visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, and consults on international AIDS policy issues for governments, non-profit organizations and foundations. Until December 2004, she was Chief Advisor to the Rwandan Minister of State for HIV/AIDS and Other Epidemics, where she was responsible for drafting national policies related to HIV/AIDS and for coordinating the implementation of multi-million dollar HIV/AIDS programs throughout the country. Prior to her position with the Government of Rwanda, Celina held positions as Country Director of Columbia University programs in Rwanda, and with the William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation, where she co-authored Rwanda’s national plan for HIV/AIDS Treatment and Care. Ms. Schocken received her B.A. Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago, and holds a M.A. in public policy and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
