Major Richard (Rick) Wrona is a U.S. Army officer with seventeen years of military service. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1994, he cross-commissioned to the United States Army and proceeded to serve with the 82nd Airborne Division and 173rd Airborne Brigade as a rifle platoon leader, reconnaissance platoon leader, rifle company commander, and staff officer. In 2002, he relinquished command and began graduate studies at the School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduation from SAIS in 2004, Major Wrona was re-assigned to the United States Military Academy, where he taught courses in international relations, comparative politics, and international security studies. In the summer of 2007, Major Wrona is being reassigned to Stuttgart, Germany, where he will be a strategic planner for one of the military’s unified combatant commands. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and an associate of the Military Academy’s Combating Terrorism Center.
