President & Chief Executive Officer, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
Mr. Ibargüen is president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, a major supporter of free speech and journalism worldwide and civic advancement in 26 U.S. communities. Previously, he served as publisher of The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald. He was a newspaper executive at The Hartford Courant and Newsday before moving to Miami. Mr. Ibargüen is executive committee chairman of the Newseum, and serves on the trustees' council of the National Gallery of Art and the advisory council of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. He is a member of the board of directors of PepsiCo. Mr. Ibargüen received a Maria Moors Cabot citation from Columbia University for his work with the Inter American Press Association to protect journalists in Latin America. He is based in Miami, FL.
