  Experience:
  

  Dalton Conley is Professor of Sociology and Public Policy at New York University and Director of NYU's Center for Advanced Social Science Research. His books include Being Black, Living in the Red: Race, Wealth and Social Policy in America; Honky; The Starting Gate: Birth Weight and Life Chances and The Pecking Order: Which Siblings Succeed and Why. Dr. Conley contributes frequently to The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Slate, and Forbes. Among his academic honors are an NSF Career Award and the 2005 Alan T. Waterman Award. Dr. Conley received his B.A. in humanities at the University of California, Berkeley, his M.P.A. in public policy, and M. Phil., D. Phil., in sociology from Columbia University. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and conducted his International Affairs Fellowship at the United Nations Millennium Development Group.
