This update represents violence in Nigeria and related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger from November 28 to December 3, 2021.
The map depicts deaths by state. Borno State, in Nigeria's North East, is the epicenter of Boko Haram-related violence, which has also spilled into neighboring Adamawa and Yobe states, among others.

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from November 28 to December 3, 2021. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

 

  • (Last week, November 26: The Nigerian Air Force killed sixty bandits around Mariga, Niger State.)
  • November 28: Pirates kidnapped six in Brass Local Government Area (LGA) and kidnapped one and killed four in Nembe LGA in Bayelsa.
  • November 28: Nine inmates, one assailant, and one officer were killed during an attack on a correctional center in Jos, Plateau.
  • November 28: Gunmen kidnapped two police officers in Ohaukwu, Ebonyi.
  • November 28: Police officers killed two gunmen in Ukum, Benue.
  • November 28: Bandits killed four in Gusau, Zamfara.
  • November 28: Kidnappers abducted "some" (estimated at five) in Ijumu, Kogi.
  • November 28: Two soldiers and "several" (estimated at ten) Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) militants were killed during a clash in Nganzai, Borno.
  • November 28: Security forces killed two bandits in Birnin-Gwari LGA and three bandits in Giwa LGA in Kaduna.
  • November 29: Kidnappers abducted a village head and "many" others (estimated at ten total) in Faskari, Katsina.
  • November 29: Bank robbers killed one police officer and one Federal Road Safety Corps marshal in Ekiti West, Ekiti.
  • November 29: Bandits killed one in Igabi, Kaduna.
  • November 29: Bandits kidnapped "dozens" (estimated at twenty-four) in Chikun, Kaduna.
  • November 30: Sectarian violence led to eleven deaths in Gassol, Taraba.
  • November 30: Nigerian troops inflicted "heavy casualties" (estimated at twenty) on Boko Haram/ISWA militants in Gujba, Yobe.
  • December 1: Kidnappers abducted two in Obokun, Osun.
  • December 1: Boko Haram/ISWA abducted fifteen humanitarian workers and six civil servants in Damboa, Borno.
  • December 2: Bandits killed one and kidnapped thirteen in Zaria, Kaduna.
  • December 3: Bandits killed two and kidnapped fifty in Chikun, Kaduna.
  • December 3: Twenty-four Boko Haram/ISWA militants and seven soldiers were killed during a clash in Kala/Balge, Borno.
  • December 3: Boko Haram attacked Abadam, Borno; no casualty figures were provided.
