Official Chinese Position on Diaoyu Dao (Senkaku Islands)

The State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China released this white paper entitled "Diaoyu Dao, an Inherent Territory of China." Related statements by Chinese officials on the islands are available on its Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. The Foreign Ministry of Japan also provided its position on the Senkaku Islands (Diaoyu Dao).

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs states in the forward to its position:

"Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands are an inseparable part of the Chinese territory. Diaoyu Dao is China's inherent territory in all historical, geographical and legal terms, and China enjoys indisputable sovereignty over Diaoyu Dao."
