National Defense Authorization Act, January 2013 (PDF)

President Obama signed the annual National Defense Authorization Act for FY13 into law on January 2, 2013. [Editor's Note: Click here for more CFR 2012 resources examining the foreign policy and national security dimensions of the presidential transition.]

According to the Press Secretary statement, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 "authorizes fiscal year 2013 appropriations for Department of Defense programs and military construction, Department of Energy national security programs, and Department of Transportation maritime security programs; authorizes recruitment and retention bonuses, special payments, and other authorities relating to the U.S. Armed Forces; and makes other modifications to national security, foreign affairs, and other related programs."
