Securing America's Energy Future

This report finds that the energy crisis is a potential national security and economic threat that calls for governmental action to "provide for the common defense" and maintain the "general welfare" of U.S. citizens. Among its suggestions: reduce oil consumption by the transportation sector, upgrade fuel economy standards, "aggressively pursue" alternative forms of energy, and develop nuclear energy as the main source of baseload electricity in place of natural gas.
