Single European Act

Published February 17, 1986

The Single European Act introduced measures aimed at achieving an internal market and greater political cooperation. It was the first profound and wide-ranging constitutional reform of the EU since the 1950s. It was signed on February 17, 1986 and entered into force on July 1, 1987.
