Treaty of Nice

The Treaty of Nice was the product of difficult negotiations to define the institutional changes necessary for enlargement. It dealt mainly with the institutional adaptations required for the expansion of the Union to 25 Member States, which were not resolved with the Treaty of Amsterdam. It was signed on February 26, 2001 and entered into force on February 2, 2003.
