Patricia Dorff is editorial director at the Council on Foreign Relations. Ms. Dorff has nearly three decades of publishing experience with a diverse background in international relations, editing, production, and marketing. As editorial director, she oversees all CFR publications and directs the Council's international partnerships program with foreign publishers to translate and post CFR content online. In addition, she advises CFR senior fellows on their writing and assists with the promotion and distribution of CFR publications.

From 1988 to 1995, Ms. Dorff was associate editor at Foreign Affairs magazine. While working at Foreign Affairs, she was responsible for editing articles on the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. In addition to writing occasional book reviews for the magazine, she was also editor of the Foreign Affairs Chronology, from 1991 to 1995. She joined CFR in 1986 as a research assistant for Middle East studies. Ms. Dorff graduated with combined BA honor degrees in history and political science from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received a MA in international relations from Georgetown University and a Masters of Philosophy in international relations from Columbia University. She is coeditor, with Ambassador Princeton N. Lyman, of the book Africa: Beyond Humanitarianism: What You Need to Know About Africa and Why It Matters.
