The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS released this declaration on June 10, 2011.

The UNAIDS website states, "Thirty years into the AIDS epidemic, and 10 years since the landmark UN General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS, leaders came together at the 2011 UN General Assembly High Level Meeting on AIDS from 8–10 June 2011 in New York.

They reviewed progress and adopted a new Political Declaration that includes new commitments and bold new targets which will create momentum in the AIDS response."
