Unless the United States provides additional funding, reconstruction related activities in Iraq are likely to slow considerably over the next several years, and many of these goals will be left unmet. It is difficult to determine how much additional funding would have to be provided to complete all or most of the objectives for reconstruction identified after the invasion. However, a reasonable estimate is that some $18-28 billion or more is required.
