Many experts agree the United States must address the nation's energy security needs as well as addressing aging network of roads, bridges, airports, railways, water systems, and other public works to maintain its global economic competitiveness. But with the U.S. economy under considerable strain, particularly rising debt and deficits, big, expensive, public-works projects are becoming more and more difficult to achieve. This section addresses the challenges and solutions for U.S. infrastructure.
The Renewing America project focuses on six major challenges facing the United States: debt and deficits; infrastructure; education and human capital; corporate regulation and taxation; innovation; and international trade and investment.
