IAEA Safeguards Agreement, North Korea

North Korea signed this safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency; it was ratified in April 1992. North Korea provided a declaration of its nuclear program, facilties and materials and gave inspectors access. Inspections resulted in requests for further access, which were denied. North Korea asked IAEA inspectors to leave the country in December 2002, just prior to its withdrawal from the Nonproliferation Treaty.
