Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty II (START II)

Published January 3, 1993

A follow-up to the START I Treaty, this treaty between U.S. and the Soviet Union further reduced the number of warheads in each country. It was signed on January 3, 1993. In June 2002, the U.S. withdrew from the ABM Treaty; one day later, Russia withdrew from START II.
