National Space Policy, 2006
Published August 31, 2006
The first updated National Space Policy since 1996, this document emphasizes the role of space in security issues, stating that "freedom of action in space is as important to the United States as air power and sea power" and that arms control agreements or restrictions "must not impair the rights of the United States to conduct research, development, testing and operations or other activities in space for U.S. national interests".
Essential Documents are vital primary sources underpinning the foreign policy debate.
