Council on Foreign Relations
Prolific journalist Peter Beinart will join the Council on Foreign Relations as a senior fellow for U.S. foreign policy on Monday, January 8, 2007. Beinart will examine how the United States recovers from lost wars. He will also be editor-at-large of The New Republic, where he has worked since 1995, as managing editor, senior editor, and most recently, editor. Beinart will continue to serve as a Time contributor, a CNBC contributor, and a monthly columnist for the Washington Post.
Beinart has written for numerous publications from the New York Times to Polity: the Journal of the Northeastern Political Science Studies Association, and was named columnist of the year for 2004 by The Week. His book, The Good Fight: Why Liberals—And Only Liberals—Can Win the War on Terror and Make America Great Again, was published by HarperCollins in June 2006. Beinart graduated from Yale University, winning both Rhodes and Marshall (declined) scholarships for graduate study at Oxford University, where he graduated from University College.
Beinart will be based in the Council’s Washington DC office.
