A US Government Accountability Office testimony before the Committee on Armed Services, House of Representatives, highlighting the critical challenges that the United States and its allies face in the ongoing struggle to help the Iraqis stabilize, secure, and rebuild their country, and calling for more complete and transparent information from various US agencies on progress made toward achieving US security, economic, and diplomatic goals in Iraq.
In Restoring the Balance: A Middle East Strategy for the Next President, experts from the Council on Foreign Relations and the Saban Center at the Brookings Institution propose a new, nonpartisan Middle East strategy drawing on the lessons of past failures to address both the short-term and long-term challenges to U.S. interests.
