The International Court of Justice found that in the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina v. Serbia and Montenegro, the Serbian government did not commit genocide, but violated various obligations under the UN Convention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. This case is the first incidence of trying a UN member state for the crime of genocide.
