U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement

This bilateral commercial treaty between the United States and Chile was signed into law on September 3, 2003. The USTR states that the treaty is a "state-of-the-art agreement that eliminates bilateral tariffs, lowers trade barriers, promotes economic integration and expands opportunities for the peoples of both countries. ...The U.S.- Chile FTA is the first free trade agreement between the United States and a South American country."
