This bilateral commercial treaty between the United States and Australia was signed into law on August 3, 2004 and came into force on January 1, 2005. The USTR states, "The agreement will eliminate more than 99 percent of manufactured goods tariffs between the two countries from day one, open services and agricultural markets, and further deepen their already strong economic ties."
