This act authorizes "appropriations for fiscal years 2009 through 2013 to provide assistance to foreign countries to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and for other purposes." It reauthorizes the President's Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), tripling the United States' aid. It was signed into law on July 30, 2008.
