After the Department of Justice's August 24, 2009 release of a 2004 CIA report on interrogation techniques carried out in CIA prisons overseas, the CIA released two once-secret reports describing intelligence gathered via its interrogation process. The first document, "Khalid Shaykh Muhammad: Pre-eminent Source on Al-Qa'ida", is dated July 13, 2004. The second is titled "Detainee Reporting Pivotal for the War Against Al-Qa’ida" and is dated June 3, 2005.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney, who requested the reports be released earlier in 2009, claims the documents show the CIA's interrogation methods were effective.
