UN Security Council Resolution 1483, Iraq

    Published May 22, 2003

This resolution was passed 13 years after the United Nations first put sanctions on Iraq in 1990. The decision to lift the sanctions came about two months after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq began. In the resolution the UN also gave its blessing for a coalition provisional authority to run post-war Iraq until Iraq elections.
