Janine Hill is director of fellowship affairs at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). As director of fellowship affairs, she coordinates the recruitment and selection process for CFR's extensive fellowship program, which includes ten fellowships: International Affairs Fellowship (IAF), IAF in Canada, IAF in Japan, IAF in International Economics, IAF in Nuclear Security, Stanton Nuclear Security Fellowship, Edward R. Murrow Press Fellowship, Military Fellowship, National Intelligence Fellowship, and Historian-in-Residence Fellowship. Hill has been a member of the management team of the David Rockefeller Studies Program since 2002.
Prior to joining CFR, Hill was vice president in corporate finance at Salomon Brothers and assistant treasurer at Time Incorporated. Before that, Hill practiced law at Sullivan & Cromwell.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Hill grew up in France and Belgium. She graduated from the University of Paris summa cum laude with a degree in international law and economics and has a JD from Harvard Law School. She is a member of the board of trustees of AXA Art Insurance Corporation, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and Our Lady Queen of Angels School (East Harlem). Hill is fluent in French, and speaks Spanish and German, and is studying Arabic.
