The Bernard L. Schwartz Senior Fellowship in Business and Foreign Policy was established in 2002 with a gift from the Bernard and Irene Schwartz Foundation. Mr. Schwartz is the former chairman and CEO of Loral Space & Communications. The fellowship focuses on the global integration of financial markets and their significance for U.S. economic and foreign policy.
Bernard L. Schwartz is chairman and CEO of BLS Investments, LLC, a private investment firm. Mr. Schwartz retired in March 2006 after 34 years as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Loral Space & Communications, a New York Stock Exchange-listed manufacturer of satellites and satellite systems. Over the years, Mr. Schwartz has been recognized for his views and counsel on matters ranging from economic growth and industrial policy to technology and national security, views which generally challenge conventional wisdom and provide a basis for numerous speeches, white papers and testimony to private research institutions, educators and congressional committees.
