Criminal Terrorism Enforcement in the United States During the Five Years Since the 9/11/01 Attacks

Based on US Justice Department data, this report finds that the number terrorism-related prosecutions has dropped since the events of September 11. Of the defendants convicted post-9/11, less than half received prison sentences. An analysis of data from 2005-2006 also found that Justice Department attorneys rejected 9 out of 10 terrorism cases passed to them by various federal agencies.
