In a message aired on al-Jazeera TV before President Obama's arrival in Egypt, al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden says "Obama is following in the footsteps of his predecessor, increasing the enmity of the Muslims."

Excerpt: In an audio message aired June 3, 2009 on al-Jazeera TV, al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden states that "Obama and his administration have sown new seeds that will increase hatred and vengeance towards America," that President Obama is "following in the footsteps of his predecessor," and that "the American people should prepare to continue to reap what the leaders of the White House are sowing." He also praises the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks.

In another audio message, posted on the Islamist website al-Faluja, and titled "The Hangmen of Egypt and Those Who Collaborate with the U.S. Welcome Obama," al-Qaeda deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri calls Obama a "global criminal" and says that he is not welcome in Egypt.
