Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures

The  Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, also known as the SPS Agreement, is a WTO treaty regarding “food safety and animal and plant health regulations”.  It entered into force on January 1, 1995 with the founding of the WTO.
