Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Implementing the United Nations â€śProtect, Respect and Remedyâ€ť Framework
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, John Ruggie, prepared the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Implementing the United Nations "Protect, Respect and Remedy" Framework report. The report covers "the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises" and "summarizes his work from 2005 to 2011". The report was released in March 2011.
Mark P. Lagon, CFR's adjunct senior fellow for human rights, leads a conversation on the role of business in international relations and upholding human rights obligations, as part of CFR's Academic Conference Call Series.
It makes good business sense for companies to actively pursue an ethical supply chain. Philanthropy to worthy third parties is not enough.
