International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling

The International Whaling Commission states, “the purpose of the Convention is to provide for the proper conservation of whale stocks and thus make possible the orderly development of the whaling industry.” It was signed in December 1946 and entered into force on November 10, 1948. Its protocol was signed on Novemer19, 1956.
