A constant Republican refrain during the endless health-care debate was that Barack Obama wouldn't accept any of their ideas.

That wasn't precisely true, but the end result was such an overwhelmingly Democratic product with exclusively Democratic support that it made a great talking point.

But now the president has done just what leading GOPers have long demanded by giving the green light for offshore oil drilling.
