As of September 2017, the Vaccine-Preventable Outbreaks map has moved to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Gavi brings together public and private sectors with the shared goal of creating equal access to new and underused vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries.
Former Senior Fellow for Global Health Laurie Garrett created and maintained the Vaccine-Preventable Outbreaks map, tracking reports by news media, governments, and the global health community on these outbreaks since the fall of 2008. The project sought to promote awareness of easily preventable global health problems by examining the factors that threaten the success of eradicating preventable illnesses such as polio.
