About the Project
The United States' relationship with China is arguably the most important bilateral relationship of the century. Over the years, U.S.-China relations have evolved from tense standoffs to a complex mix of diplomacy, rivalry, and intertwined economies. What currently remains absent from this crucial relationship is an American grand strategy. My work aims to identify the elements of Chinese grand strategy toward the United States, as well as to propose a U.S. grand strategy for dealing with Beijing. This project has culminated in a Council Special Report, Revising U.S. Grand Strategy Toward China, with recommendations for policymakers.
