What is a refugee? A quarter billion people worldwide live outside their country of nationality. One-tenth of them are refugees. While most migrants are fleeing poverty and seeking opportunity, refugees are running from acute threats: barrel bombs in Syria, razed villages in Myanmar, or repression and crime in Venezuela.
