Teaching Global Civics in a Digital Age
Join this webinar in partnership with the Digital Inquiry Group and CFR Education.

Event Date

Students are forming civic identities in a digital environment shaped by global events, misinformation, and rapidly evolving technologies. Yet the education landscape often treats global affairs, civics, and digital literacy as separate areas of study, leaving students without the knowledge, skills, and perspective they need to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
Join leaders from the Digital Inquiry Group and CFR Education, the educational arm of the Council on Foreign Relations, for a conversation about global civics in a digital age and how educators across disciplines can address these gaps. Presenters will explore why global affairs literacy and digital literacy are essential to civic education and share practical approaches for connecting global issues, developing digital literacy skills, and encouraging civic participation across the curriculum.
In this session, educators will:
- Explore data about gaps in students’ civic, global, and digital literacy.
- Discover practical, classroom-ready strategies for integrating global affairs literacy and digital inquiry into existing curricula.
- Learn approaches for helping students evaluate information, engage with complex global issues, and participate in informed civic dialogue.
- Explore free, evidence-based resources that support sustained civic inquiry throughout the school year.
Whether you teach social studies, English language arts, science, world languages, library/media, or another subject, this webinar will offer practical ways to make civic learning relevant to students’ everyday lives and help them navigate the global and digital realities shaping civic life today.
