Students will research news articles that highlight how international organizations can help solve problems.

Have students read “Six Essential International Organizations” and fill out part 1 of handout.
Have students choose an organization and find a news event in which that organization was involved.
Use news reports and the organization’s website to fill out part 2 of the handout.
Post each student’s part 2 around the classroom in a gallery walk.
Discuss: How can international organizations help to solve problems?
