Identifying Government Types

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to identify and distinguish between different forms of government (democratic/authoritarian, capitalist/communist, left-wing/right-wing) and articulate why no government fits neatly into a single category.

Instructional Plan

Use the attached slide deck (below) to host a friendly Jeopardy-style trivia game in which students answer questions about the different types of government using information from the CFR Education reading, “What are the Different Types of Government?”

Conclude the activity with a brief debrief discussion using suggested discussion questions and key takeaways (slides 57-61).
