This update represents violence in Nigeria and related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger from September 24 to September 30, 2022.
The map depicts deaths by state. Borno State, in Nigeria's North East, is the epicenter of Boko Haram-related violence, which has also spilled into neighboring Adamawa and Yobe states, among others.

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from September 24 to September 30, 2022. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents are included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

 

  • September 24: Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) abducted seven security personnel in Gubio, Borno. 
  • September 24: Gunmen killed two in Sabon Gari, Kano. 
  • September 24: Bandits killed three and abducted twenty-two in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna. 
  • September 25: Bandits killed three and abducted eight in Maru, Zamfara. 
  • September 26: Kidnappers abducted a traditional ruler in Pankshin, Plateau. 
  • September 26: The military killed “scores” (est. at forty) of ISWAP militants in Gujba, Yobe. 
  • September 26: ISWA killed one Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) member in Kaga, Borno. 
  • September 26: Bandits killed one police inspector and abducted “several” (est. at ten) in Faskari, Katsina. 
  • September 27: Vigilantes killed thirty-one bandits in Maru, Zamfara. 
  • September 27: Gunmen killed four at a checkpoint in Enugu South, Enugu. 
  • September 27: Gunmen killed one police officer and one civilian in Iwajowa, Oyo. 
  • September 28: Gunmen killed five soldiers and one civilian in Orumba South, Anambra. 
  • September 28: A transport workers' clash resulted in two deaths on Lagos Island, Lagos. 
  • September 28: Two gunmen and one soldier were killed during a clash in Oru West, Imo.  
  • September 28: Bandits killed three soldiers in Kaura-Namode, Zamfara. 
  • September 28: The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) killed one kidnapper in Ibadan, Oyo. 
  • September 29: Bandits killed one customs officer in Jibia, Katsina. 
  • September 29: Troops killed “many” (est. at twenty) Boko Haram militants in Bama, Borno.
