Global health and security will increasingly rely on the support of private sector actors, multilateral development banks, and local scientists, institutions, and entrepreneurs. While these local actors are already addressing domestic health needs, strengthening their role in global priorities such as disease surveillance and the rapid distribution of medical countermeasures requires rethinking what is best led locally, establishing supportive financing structures, and reforming global institutions to enable meaningful collaboration within a broader global framework.

This roundtable will explore these critical topics, featuring two speakers who will offer diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead: Peter Singer, emeritus professor of medicine at University of Toronto, former special advisor to the director general of the World Health Organization, and former CEO of Grand Challenges Canada and John Simon, founding partner of Total Impact Capital, former U.S. ambassador to the African Union, and former executive vice president of the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
