Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from October 1 to October 7, 2022. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents are included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

  • October 1: Kidnappers abducted three in Ifelodun, Kwara.
  • October 2: Bandits killed twelve in Bali, Taraba.
  • October 3: Boko Haram killed three in Chibok, Borno.
  • October 3: Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) killed “many” (est. at twenty) in Chibok, Borno.
  • October 3: Protestors killed three in Ughelli North, Delta.
  • October 3: A cult clash resulted in six deaths in Obudu, Cross River.
  • October 4: Kidnappers abducted a community leader in Mangu, Plateau.
  • October 5: Bandits kidnapped twenty-seven and shot at canoes carrying fleeing civilians, causing them to capsize and resulting in twenty-six deaths in Bukkuyum, Zamfara.
  • October 5: Sectarian violence resulted in the death of one soldier in Guri, Jigawa.
  • October 6: Kidnappers abducted two corps members in Mikang, Plateau.
  • October 6: ISWA killed eight Boko Haram militants in Marte, Borno.
  • October 6: A cult war resulted in three deaths in Oredo, Edo.
  • October 7: Kidnappers killed one and abducted one in Ilorin South, Kwara.
  • October 7: Gunmen killed two civilians and one police officer in Akwa Ibom (no Local Government Area (LGA) provided).
