Last week on her blog, in light of Mexico’s presidential transition, CFR senior fellow Shannon O’Neil wrote about President Felipe Calderón’s legacy in numbers, particularly in terms of development indicators. As she explains:

The number of Mexicans living in poverty increased from 44.5 percent in 2008 to 46.2 percent in 2010, an increase of 3.2 million people…Nevertheless, common measures of Mexico’s middle class showed improvement.
