Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from July 9, 2016 to July 15, 2016. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

  • July 9: Herdsmen killed five in Logo, Benue.
  • July 12: A shoot-out between Nigerian soldiers and Boko Haram militants in Kukawa, Borno led to the deaths of two soldiers and twenty-five militants.
  • July 12: A gun duel in Ikwerre, Rivers led to the deaths of four cops and two kidnappers.
  • July 12: Cattle rustlers killed three in Gieri, Adamawa.
  • July 13: Militants blew up a gas pipeline in Sagamu, Ogun.
  • July 13: Suspected cultists killed two in Lokoja, Kogi.
  • July 15: Nigerian troops killed two Boko Haram militants in Kaga, Borno.
