Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from October 14 to October 20, 2017. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

 

  • October 14: Sectarian violence led to six deaths in Bassa, Plateau.
  • October 15: Sectarian violence led to six deaths in Bassa, Plateau.
  • October 15: Gunmen abducted a priest in Ezza North, Ebonyi. 
  • October 16: Sectarian violence led to twenty-nine deaths in Bassa, Plateau.
  • October 16: Sectarian violence led to one death in Bassa, Plateau.
  • October 18: Boko Haram killed three Nigerian soldiers in Damboa, Borno. 
  • October 19: Boko Haram killed three soldiers and three others in Damboa, Borno.
  • October 20: Nigerian troops killed three Boko Haram militants in Dikwa, Borno.
