Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from July 11 to July 18, 2014. These incidents are also available here, and are included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

  • July 11: Land grabbers and rival gangs clashed in Ogun, with 1 casualty.
  • July 11: 2 were shot and killed by police in Lagos when police raided a drug den in Owode. 3 more youth were then killed by police when they protested the killing.
  • July 12: Boko Haram raided Sabon Gari village in Damboa, Borno, killing 27.
  • July 13: Boko Haram bombed the Biu-Maiduguri bridge in Borno. There were no casualties.
  • July 14: Fulani herdsmen killed 11 indigenes in Plateau.
  • July 14: : Boko Haram attacked Dille village in Borno and a fighter jet chasing down the insurgents opened fire on civilians accidentally. The total number of civilian casualties was 45, but it was unclear how many were killed by Boko Haram and how many were killed by the military jet.
  • July 16: Boko Haram killed 9 in Askira/Uba, Borno.
  • July 16: A German teacher was kidnapped in Adamawa, and 2 vigilantes were killed trying to chase down the kidnappers.
  • July 17: 3 were killed in Adamawa when a group of youths opposed to the impeachment of the former Adamawa State governor clashed with others who were celebrating the impeachment.
  • July 18: Boko Haram again attacked Sabon Gari in Damboa, Borno, killing 21.
