Jeh Charles Johnson is a partner with the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, a member of the board of directors of Lockheed Martin and U.S. Steel, and a trustee of Columbia University. Previously, he served as U.S. secretary of homeland security from 2013 to 2017, general counsel of the Department of Defense from 2009 to 2012, general counsel of the Department of the Air Force from 1998 to 2001, and assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1989 to 1991.

Johnson is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He frequently appears as a guest or commentator on NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, FOX, CNN, CNBC, NPR, Bloomberg TV and other networks and has lectured or debated at Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, and Yale Universities and all four military service academies. He is a graduate of Morehouse College and Columbia Law School and a recipient of twelve honorary degrees. Johnson is a 2018 recipient of the Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Award, a 2021 recipient of The American Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award and a 2022 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
